Location changes for Wednesday COVID vaccine clinic; Public Health offers $100 gift cards

Time is still from 8 a.m. to noon.

Public Health - Dayton & Montgomery County is offering $100 gift cards to patients receiving their first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine.

The clinic location for 8 a.m. to noon Wednesday has been changed from the Dayton Convention Center to the Reibold Building at 117 S. Main St. Enter the first floor lobby. Free parking will be available in the Reibold Building Garage. Those attending should bring an ID.

A line formed outside in the hour before the Tuesday afternoon clinic in Huber Heights, which was the first to start offering the gift cards in an effort to encourage vaccination.

A grant from the Ohio Department of Health provided 1,000 of the $100 gift cards, which will be given out while supplies last.

The gift cards are only available to those receiving their first dose of the vaccine.

“Vaccination is the single most important thing you can do to protect yourself and your loved ones from severe illness, hospitalization or death from COVID-19,” said Health Commissioner Jeff Cooper. “The incentive is being offered to help motivate the unvaccinated to receive the vaccine as quickly as possible to reduce the recent surge of severe illness and hospitalization.”

As of Tuesday, 50.94% of Montgomery County residents have received at least one dose of the vaccine, according to ODH. Statewide, 52.96% of residents have started the vaccine series. The county saw an increase of 412 people start the vaccine in the last day. It’s more than double the 184-person increase in vaccination starts ODH reported for Montgomery County on Monday.
