Mad River Middle School dismissed early Thursday following an afternoon bomb threat that resulted in a building evacuation and search.

The seventh- and eighth-graders were transferred to Stebbins High School, according to the Riverside Police Department.

“The building was cleared and nothing was found,” police said. “The faculty and students were allowed to return.”

Although the building was determined to be safe, Mad River Schools said it dismissed students early “out of an abundance of caution and to allow law enforcement to conduct their investigation without disruption,” the district stated in a letter to families.

In addition to Riverside officers, police crews from the Dayton International Airport and Wright Patterson Air Force Base responded to help search the school.

It is not clear what the threat said or how it was reported.

The incident remains under investigation by Riverside police.
