“We live in the neighborhood, so this is our go-to sledding hill,” Morgan Fisher said. “We were here twice yesterday and then we decided to come as soon as we got it together this morning because the girls love it so much.”
All three girls were excited to go sledding. Eleanor Fisher said they had gone up and down the hill about 20 times. The family even brought their dog, Bunny, to join in the fun.
In Xenia, there were several families at Hawkins Hill on Fairgrounds Road, across from St. Brigid Catholic Church.
“Some friends told us about this hill last year and we are such fans,” said Mindy Skiles of Xenia, who brought her three girls, Bethany, Kathryn and Allyson. “We come out whenever there’s a good snow and the kids play. Usually, they end up finding some friends they know here to play with.”

Skiles recalled growing up in Indiana during the blizzard of 1976. She said the snow was higher than the cars and remembered making tunnels through the snow drifts with her brothers.
That’s something her three girls enjoy doing too, as well as making snow ice cream and snow angels.

Rebecca Palmer’s three sons, Weston, Wyatt and Liam, enjoy building forts in the snow after their dad shovels the driveway.
“Today we are meeting some friends at Hawkins Hill to go sledding. We live really close by and we go to St. Brigid right here,” Rebecca Palmer said. “We came out yesterday and we had a lot of fun, so we’ve come back for some more sledding fun.”
