Strong winds knock out power to thousands across region

Strong winds knocked out power Thursday to more than 11,000 electric customers at one point across the region.

The majority of the over 3,680 current outages are in Montgomery County, which has more than 2,000 without power, according to AES Ohio’s online outage map.

A wind advisory is in effect through 11 p.m. for most counties across the region. The strongest gusts up to 60 mph have ended, but winds will still be strong before gradually subsiding in the early overnight hours, according to the National Weather Service in Wilmington.

There were 3,680 outages reported as of 9:06 p.m. from AES Ohio, Duke Energy and Ohio Edison, down from 11,241 outages as of 4:30 p.m.
