Pursuit involving wanted man prompts SWAT standoff in Clayton

A police pursuit involving a wanted man resulted in a SWAT standoff in Clayton Thursday night after officers believed the man had broken into a neighbor’s home.

The incident started after an Englewood officer starting pursuing a man with a warrant out for his arrest.

The man drove home to Southway Road in Clayton. Once police were on the scene, they believed he broke into a neighbor’s home, so a SWAT crew was called to the area.

After a search, police determined the man did not break into the home and the stand off ended.

The man was still at large Friday. He is expected to face a failure to comply charge in connection to the incident, according to police.
