Power restored to most after Thursday thunderstorms

More than 5,000 people across the region were without power Thursday afternoon after showers and thunderstorms rolled through.

Outages were less than half that number as of 7 p.m. Thursday, with roughly 2,400 customers without service, and only about 800 remain without power as of 10:20 p.m.

Outages rose again to around 2,400 customers by 11:24 p.m., but fell to fewer than 500 customers by 9 a.m.

The majority of power outages were in Montgomery County, where AES Ohio, formerly Dayton Power & Light, reported 4,826 customers without power as of 3:40 p.m. Outages numbered about 684 as of 10:25 p.m., the online outage map showed, but rose once again to 2,280 by 11:24 p.m.

By 8:54 a.m. this morning, Montgomery County had 394 customer still without power.

Clark County had the second-largest number of power outages, with 820 as of 3:40 p.m. Thursday, Ohio Edison reported. By 10:25 p.m. Clark County had fewer than five reported outages, and by 11:24 p.m. had none.

As of 9 a.m., Ohio Edison was reporting 15 outages in Clark County
