Total solar eclipse: Traffic delays ease during evening

Traffic started picking up immediately following today’s total solar eclipse with several delays up to 20 minutes reported in parts.

The number of vehicles on interstates 70, 75 and 675 and other national, state and local roadways increased noticeably once the “once-in-a-lifetime” event ended. Thousands of people were expected to have traveled to the region to watch the Great American Eclipse inside the path of totality.

As of 7:50 p.m., there is a 10-minute delay on I-75 South between West Carrollton and around the Austin Boulevard exit.

A solar eclipse alert on the Ohio Department of Transportation’s OHGO real-time traffic monitor, advised: “Solar eclipse today. Plan ahead. Expect heavy traffic.”
