“Upon arrival we found a total of five train cars involved in the accident,” said Greenville Fire Chief Russ Thompson. “Three of the rail cars involved were carrying ethanol.”
None of the cars on their side were leaking product, he added.
The tracks are owned by RJ Corman Railroad Group, which began work Tuesday night cleaning the area. Clean up was scheduled to resume Wednesday morning.
Wayne Street (state Route 571) reopened Wednesday morning. Some street closures may be needed to make repairs, the fire department said.
