A 25-year-old woman was killed Friday morning following a head-on crash in Bath Twp.

Hayley K. Ratliff of Dayton was pronounced dead at the scene in the crash reported at 7:55 a.m. in the 4300 block of state Route 444, according to the Ohio State Highway Patrol’s Xenia Post.

A 2020 Toyota Corolla driven by Bruce A. Maske Jr., 25, of Dayton was headed east on state Route 444 when he drove off the left side of the roadway, through the grassy median and into the westbound lanes, where he struck a 2009 Chevrolet Malibu driven by Ratliff head-on, the patrol stated in a release.

The woman’s car caught fire after the impact.

Maske was taken to Miami Valley Hospital with injuries that were not life-threatening. Troopers at the scene said the man possibly suffered a medical issue before the crash.

The crash closed a portion of state Route 444 for about three hours.

Both drivers were wearing their seat belts, and alcohol and drugs are not suspected, the highway patrol said.

The crash remains under investigation.
