Two people were seriously injured in a two-vehicle crash involving a tractor-trailer that temporarily closed U.S. 35 in Greene County Thursday.

Around 1:45 a.m., a 34-year-old Columbus man was driving a Mack Anthem tractor-trailer on U.S. 35 West when he hit a 2024 Volkswagen Jetta near U.S. 68 in Xenia.

The Jetta went off the right side of the road and hit a ditch, according to the Ohio State Highway Patrol.

The semi went through the grass medium and came to a stop on U.S. 35 East.

The 41-year-old Dayton man driving the Jetta and his passenger, a 46-year-old Dayton man, were both taken to the hospital with serious, life-threatening injuries, troopers said.

The driver of the semi was not injured.

The crash caused closures in both directions. U.S. 35 completely reopened around 7:45 a.m.
