Man who died in Harrison Twp. house fire Thursday ID’d

A 67-year-old man who died in a house fire in Harrison Twp. Thursday has been identified.

The Montgomery County Coroner’s Office identified the man as Kelvin Clements on Friday. Crews initially responded shortly after 7 p.m. on Thursday to the 2700 block of Rugby Road on a report of a structure fire.

The house was engulfed when they arrived and the Harrison Twp. Fire Department found one victim inside, according to the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office.

Clements was taken to Miami Valley Hospital, where he was pronounced deceased a short time later.

The cause and manner of death have not been determined.

A neighbor called 911 after she smelled smoke, which she noticed was thick when she opened her front door, according to Montgomery County Regional Dispatch Center records.

The woman said she could not see any fire and couldn’t tell where the smoke was coming from but said the front of her neighbor’s house was dark.

The fire remains under investigation by the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office Special Investigations Unit and Harrison Twp. Fire Department.
