The 911 caller was not at the scene at the time and reportedly called from another county, according to Dayton Fire Department Assistant Chief Brad French.
Crews arrived on scene within five minutes of the report and attempted to get additional information while starting search operations.
The fire department deployed multiple boats in the water and searched the riverbanks in the area. Crews also used an aerial drone with thermal imaging capability.
After approximately three hours, the search was suspended, French said.
Dayton police, Five Rivers MetroParks and West Carrollton police assisted crews at the scene.
