Heavy snow from a winter storm Sunday and Monday delayed trash services for some in the Dayton area.

“We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause and encourage residents to continue monitoring our social media channels and website for further updates regarding the return of normal operations and hours,” the Montgomery County Transfer Station said, regarding their closure for today.

Rumpke Waste & Recycling Services will also be closed today due to hazardous road conditions from the storm.

Residents are encouraged to leave material at the curb and crews will attempt to service as soon as possible.

“Safety is a top priority for our team,” Rob Beyrer, a safety manager for Rumpke Waste & Recycling Services, said. “The freezing temperatures that are predicted for the remainder of the week make our job more dangerous. To help protect our team members from cold-related illnesses and ensure customers still receive timely collection, we must adjust our operations.”

Rumpke customers should continue to place material at the curb the night before their scheduled collection.

City of Dayton waste collection services were canceled Monday. Service will tentatively be on a one-day delay all week, according to the city. Customers should watch for updated information.
