The snow, ice and water damage was found Tuesday in the 50-foot walkway connecting the buildings. The hallway is where the museum’s contemporary art paintings are displayed, Doan said.
“It damaged three paintings, the floor and walls,” she said.
“The art reflects the legacy of southwest Ohio artists who achieved national or international recognition,” said Executive Director Michael Coyan. “It was my favorite gallery.”
The Lebanon Fire Department and Koch’s Construction were called in Tuesday to inspect the damage, which resulted in closing the connector hallway until repairs are made.
Doan said the nonprofit organization did not yet have a damage estimate, and that the organization was working on finding replacement skylights.
The gallery will remain closed until the appropriate repairs can be made, and an emergency relief fund has been created. Visit WCHSmuseum.org for details.
The museum, at 105 S. Broadway St. in downtown Lebanon, is open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday.
