911 callers, including child, describe gunfire in Hamilton after 2 people shot

Dispatchers received nine frantic 911 calls Wednesday night by Hamilton residents who described lots of gunfire, including a crying child who said, “they shot my mom.”

An argument broke out on Chestnut Street just before 9 p.m. resulting in Mario Ramirez, 60, and Elizabeth Palma-Duran, 35, both of Hamilton being wounded by a gunshots, according to police. Both victims were transported to West Chester Hospital for treatment of non life-threatening injuries.

In a 911 call, a child told the dispatcher, “she is breathing, but she just got shot.”

When shots rang out in the back ground, the dispatcher told the child to go inside.

The child responded, “I don’t live in this street.”

The frantic child said she was running to the street corner so she could tell the dispatcher her location.

Another 911 caller told dispatchers: “It sounds like a cannon … there are a lot of (gunshots).”

Another caller from Ninth Street said she heard about 20 gunshots.

“It stopped for a second then it came right back. I don’t know where, but it is really close,” the woman said.

Another caller from the 1200 block of Chestnut Street said she heard an argument in front of her house.

“They are shooting guns outside,” the woman said. She said she saw the occupants of two vehicles shooting at each other.

Another caller said the occupants of the vehicles were chasing each other down the street and firing rounds.

Two men, Francisco Alejandro Prado, 18, and Edward Mario Ramirez, 29, were arrested and both charged with felonious assault. They are housed in the Butler County Jail. They were arraigned Thursday morning in Hamilton Municipal Court, where bond was set for each man at $250,000. Preliminary hearings are scheduled for Nov. 20 for both men.

Prado is accused of shooting Mario Ramirez, and Edward Ramirez is accused of shooting Palma-Duran, according to police.
