JobsOhio, the state’s private development arm, congratulated Airstream on the kickoff.

“Another chapter in Airstream Inc’s story began today as the company broke ground on their plant expansion,” JobsOhio said Friday afternoon.

When the Dayton Daily News reported on the project in February, the company stated the new 750,000 square-foot facility should be complete in 2019. Airstream expected to boost its workforce to about 1,200 employees.

The Jackson Center campus — about 56 miles north of Dayton — has been Airstream’s sole manufacturing site since 1979.
