On anniversary of missing Miamisburg woman, police and family ask for help

UPDATE, 2:15 p.m.:  Miamisburg police and family members of a woman reported missing one year ago today pleaded for people with knowledge of her disappearance to come forward immediately to help provide closure.

Chelsey Coe was reported missing by her mother, Shula Woodworth.

Miamisburg Det. Jeff Muncy said, “It is our belief that someone knows what might have happened to Chelsey.”

“Even though it’s been a year, it’s still an active investigation,” Muncy said.

EARLIER STORY: A Miamisburg woman who has been the focus on multiple law enforcement searches will be in the spotlight next week, a year after her mother reported her missing.

Chelsey Coe’s whereabouts has remained a mystery to Miamisburg police since she was reported missing Sept. 24, 2017, a week before her 26th birthday.

Coe has been the focus of several extensive searches around the Dayton area involving police, the Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation and the FBI.

Miamisburg police have scheduled a news conference Monday about Coe. Police said the event will include Coe’s mother, Shula Woodworth, who reported her daughter missing after not hearing from her for several months.

The searches for Coe have involved a multiple-day extensive examination and excavation in May of her last-known address on Lower Miamisburg Road and surrounding properties.

In July, authorities closed Sugarcreek MetroPark in Greene County for much of three days as they combed through hundreds of acres at the site police said she was last seen near in June 2017.

The latest effort came earlier this month as searchers returned to Lower Miamisburg residence.
