Arcanum Old Fashion Days Draws Thousands To Town

One of the first festivals of the season, Old Fashion Days in the Darke County village of Arcanum, kicked-off the festival and parade season in the Miami Valley that extends into mid-October.

Hundreds of people lined the mile-long parade route Saturday morning dodging a rain drop or two.

Instead of riding in the parade, Mayor Wallace Alderman, wearing a fluorescent green vest, helped police direct traffic. He described Arcanum, a village of 2,900 residents, as a "bed and breakfast community, and a good place to raise a family."

The village Web page, www.villageofarcanum.com, termed Arcanum "truly Ohio's best kept secret, a quiet town that is perfect for raising a family."

Is your town in the northern Miami Valley having a parade?
