2 Arrested In Logan Co. Meth Investigation

Investigators in Logan County said two people were making methamphetamine as their children lived downstairs.

It took authorities several hours to remove the contents of a meth lab from a home on Township Road outside of Bellefontaine.

Logan County Sheriff's Department Lt. Rob Bibart said, "The upstairs was used exclusively for manufacture of methamphetamine."

Deputies said they believe Dustin Eisenhutt and his girlfriend Amy Cavanaugh were making meth, as their two children, ages 9 and 11, were downstairs.

Lt. Bibart said, "It puts the children in significant danger. It exposes them to gases and chemicals."

Sheriff's deputies were tipped off to what was going on. Investigators then learned the couple was buying large quantities of pseudophedrine.

Bibart said the lab was not large or elaborate. "It's actually primitive but equally if not more dangerous because the participants aren't as knowledgeable about chemistry."

Bibart also said the couple was not likely dealers and made just enough for themselves and few others.

Clean up of the lab will take quite a while. Police said the method the couple used produced an extremely dangerous gas that is lethal, odorless and colorless.

Deputies said the couple is lucky that the home did not explode.
