There are no signs of foul play after a man was found dead near the Great Miami River and North Main Street bridge in Dayton Sunday, according to Five Rivers MetroParks.

The identity of the 55-year-old man has not been released at this time.

Chief of Public Safety Mar Hess said the man had no injuries and that he was found with his possessions, including his wallet and cell phone.

A group of people on the Great Miami River Trail found the man around 3:30 p.m. on Sunday, according to police dispatch records.

A man biking on the trail told a dispatcher that he was flagged down by a group of people near the bridge who asked him to call 911.

“I believe it’s a body or a mannequin underneath the bridge in the water,” he said. “Hard to tell which...It might be a dummy, I don’t know. I just figured I’d call anyway.”

Initial reports indicated the man was found in the river, but he was in an area where storm water drains to the river.

It is not clear how long the man was there before he was found.

We are working to learn more about the incident and will update this story as details are released.
