A 16-year-old Middletown boy told police he was shot in the leg Sunday night while walking on Barbara Drive.

The boy told police he was walking on Barbara Drive around 9:30 p.m. when a vehicle pulled up and males got out of the car, shot him once in the leg, then fled. He told police he didn’t recognize the subjects.

Police said the gunshot appeared to go through the boy’s left thigh, according to the police report.

A resident in the 3200 block of Barbara Drive told police he heard several gunshots in the area. He later saw the teen who was shot and allowed him inside his home.

The teen was transported to Atrium Medical Center.

Later, police interviewed a man who reported seeing two people wearing dark hoodies running on Barbara westbound toward Orchard Street. A police officer and his canine were called, and they began tracking outside of the apartment complex. No suspects were located.

Police located 13 spent casings behind the 3100 block of Barbara Court.
