Construction on the bridge, which spans Holes Creek, is expected to take about 120 days and cost about $731,124, according to updated information last week from the Montgomery County Engineer’s Office.
West Alex Bell will be closed between Mad River and McEwen roads for “major rehabilitation” of the bridge, county officials said.
Detour signs will direct drivers around the construction using Yankee Street, Ohio 725 and McEwen Road.
The bridge’s superstructure has “deteriorated rapidly over the past several years” and is classified as “structurally deficient,” according to the county. Its posted with a load limit of 15 tons for a 2-axle truck and 20 tons for a semi-truck.
Funding was obtained from the Ohio Public Works Commission for the entire cost of construction of the project, according to the county.
