While still communicating with dispatchers, the witnesses reported that the subjects fled the area. Deputies arrived and began their investigation.
Investigators said while deputies were at China Wok, they received more calls that a break-in was occurring at the Cassano’s Pizza on South Dayton-Lakeview Drive, which was just down the road from China Wok.
Deputies, along with troopers from the Ohio State Highway Patrol, immediately went to Cassano’s and were told by witnesses that the suspect vehicle fled into a residential neighborhood across the road.
Deputies and troopers searched the area and located the suspect vehicle, which was still occupied in the 300 block of Weinland Avenue.
The suspects were taken into custody. Deputies said items from China Wok and Cassano’s Pizza were located in plain view in the vehicle.
The four people were taken to the Clark County Safety Building and questioned. They were then charged in connection with both break-ins.
The suspects were identified as Steven Stacy, 32 of New Carlisle. He was charged with two counts of breaking and entering.
Jesse Wilson, 31, of New Carlisle, was also charged with two counts of breaking and entering.
Jack D. Deakins II, 30, of New Carlisle, was charged breaking and entering, receiving stolen property and possession of marijuana.
A fourth suspect, Amber Bundy, 27, of New Carlisle, was also charged with breaking and entering.
Authorities said this is a great example of how citizens and law enforcement agencies can work together to keep communities safe.
