Clearcreek Twp. trustees took the final step on Monday toward placing the levy asking voters to tack a continuing 3.75 mills onto their property tax bills to pay for fire and emergency response services.
“To continue the level of services, we need the fire levy,” Clearcreek Twp. Administrator Matt Clark said after the 3-0 vote.
Voters in the fire district last approved a levy in 2001 and defeated the most recent effort in May 2013.
The new levy will be joining 16 other issues, including five-year fire renewals of 3.9 mills in Salem Twp, 2.45 mills in Wayne Twp. and 1 mill in Massie Twp., on ballots.
Voters in the Mason City Schools district will see nine issues each decreasing by 0.01 mills past continuing levies. In Carlisle Precinct 137, voters will decide whether to permit Casey’s Market to sell alcoholic beverages on Sundays.
Voter along county boundaries will see issues for an additional continuing 5.7 mill levy for the Bellbrook-Sugarcreek school district, renewal of a 2.18- mill, 10-year for the Miami Valley Vocational District and a 2.6-mill, 37-year bond issue for the Xenia City Schools.
In addition to the presidential election, Warren County voters will decide state judicial races and a contested County Commission race between Republican incumbent Dave Young and challenger Bob Stein.
Also incumbent Republican Steve Chabot is challenged by Democrat Kate Schroder in the 1st Congressional District.
In local Ohio State Representative races, incumbent Republican Paul Zeltwanger is running against Democrat Morgan Showen in the 54th District and incumbent Republican Scott Lipps is opposed by Democrat Erin Rosiello in the 62nd District.
