Slick spots on roads possible, up to 1 inch snow accumulation tonight

Up to an inch of snow is expected by late evening as snow showers move through the region

Slick spots will develop as road temperatures drop tonight, and visibility will be reduced in spots, according to the National Weather Service in Wilmington. Motorists should use extra caution, especially when driving on bridges, highway ramps and overpasses. Overnight, skies will be mostly cloudy overnight, with a low around 18 degrees.

Skies will start to clear Tuesday with snow coming to an end, but it will stay chilly with a high around 27 degrees. Tuesday night, it will be partly cloudy with a low around 17 degrees.

It will be sunny and cold Wednesday with highs near 31 degrees. Wednesday night will be partly cloudy with a low around 18 degrees.

A chance of snow returns between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. Thursday, after which the precipitation likely will change over to rain. Otherwise, skies will be mostly cloudy with a high near 41 degrees. The overnight low will be around 31 degrees, with rain before 5 a.m. Friday.

Looking ahead, a significant cold spell is expected for Saturday night into early next week. Highs in the teens to around 20 and lows in the single digits will be coupled with winds that will push wind chills below zero, according to the NWS.
