Every year, millions of people grow fruits and vegetables in their backyard or in community gardens. The Foodbank wants to let them know there is an easy way to give back to their community while doing the gardening they love. The Ohio Academy of Holistic Health – Certified Nurses Aide Training

Draft Horse Days & United States Plowing Contest Carriage Hill MetroPark

Date: August 29 to September 1 Time: 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. each day Join Five Rivers MetroPark for a weekend devoted to the draft horse and celebrate Ohio's agricultural heritage! This is the only national plowing contest in the country. This FREE event brings competitors from all over the country to show off their plowing skills the old fashioned way and demonstrate what real horsepower is all about. The weekend will kick off with the Ohio State Plowing Contest, featuring the Buckeye State's best plowhands competing for a chance to take on the national competition. Saturday is Draft Horse Day, a fun-filled event for the whole family where visitors can get up close and personal with all the contestants and their horses - these animals weigh between 1,100 and 3,200 lbs.! The two-day United States Plowing contest begins Sunday and features 17 teams from across the country competing in six different classes: Walking Plow, Antique (plows patented before 1925), Two-Horse Sulky Plow, Three-horse Sulky Plow, Gang Plow and Youth Plow. 13th Annual Dayton Ohio Giant Scalers Radio Control Aircraft Air Show WPAFB Behind the National Museum of the United States Air Force

Date: August 29-31, 2008 Time: Daily 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Sponsored by the Dayton Ohio Giant Scalers, the air show is scheduled each day with a half-time show from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. daily, showing off the talent and abilities of the RC pilots. Those interested in attending the air show should enter the museum gate off Springfield Street and follow the signs to the event area behind the museum.
