“We know this would not have been possible without all the tremendous support we have received from our much-appreciated customers,” Company 7 co-founder Mary Grilliot said in an email to customers. “We view this as YOUR award, too. “To be eligible for the list, a restaurant must be taste-tasted, without notice or announcement, by an affiliate of the National Barbecue News,” the publication said. “The honor is awarded for a one-year period, at which time the restaurant is re-tested in the same manner to see if they make the grade for the following year.”
The same publication two years ago named four of Company 7's sauces to its "2015 Sauces of Honor" list of best barbecue sauces in the U.S. In the 2016 Sauces of Honor competition, Company 7 snagged a 3rd place award for its "Chief Smoky" sauce in the "beef" sauce category.
