Seven has turned into quite the fortuitous number for Company 7 BBQ.

For the 7th consecutive year, National Barbecue News has named Company 7 BBQ as one of publication's "Best of the Best Barbecue Restaurants in America." The restaurant at 1001 S. Main St. in Englewood was first named in 2011.

“We know this would not have been possible without all the tremendous support we have received from our much-appreciated customers,” Company 7 co-founder Mary Grilliot said in an email to customers. “We view this as YOUR award, too. The award not only thrills us, it humbles us, and rededicates us to even higher standards of BBQ excellence and customer service.”

The updated list released by the National Barbecue News includes just 29 restaurants nationwide in its “Best of the Best” list. Company 7 is the only restaurant in Ohio to make the list, according to a National Barbecue News release sent to the restaurant.

“To be eligible for the list, a restaurant must be taste-tasted, without notice or announcement, by an affiliate of the National Barbecue News,” the publication said. “The honor is awarded for a one-year period, at which time the restaurant is re-tested in the same manner to see if they make the grade for the following year.”

The same publication two years ago named four of Company 7's sauces to its "2015 Sauces of Honor" list of best barbecue sauces in the U.S. In the 2016 Sauces of Honor competition, Company 7 snagged a 3rd place award for its "Chief Smoky" sauce in the "beef" sauce category.
