The Ohio Department of Health will not update the state’s coronavirus dashboard on New Year’s Day due to the holiday, and will instead include the data in tomorrow’s update.

The state follow the same procedure for the Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays.

As of New Year’s Eve, Ohio has reported 700,380 total COVID-19 cases and is averaging 8,025 cases a day, according to ODH. More than 9,600 cases were recorded yesterday, the most in nearly two weeks.

Hospitals across the state have 4,052 coronavirus inpatients as of New Year’s Day, according to the Ohio Hospital Association, which uses data from hospitals that was submitted to the OHA Resource Tracker.

ODH was reporting 4,367 COVID-19 patients in hospitals yesterday. The state has recorded 38,334 total coronavirus hospitalizations throughout the pandemic.

About one in five people Ohio hospitals have coronavirus, according to OHA. That’s a 7% decrease from seven days ago and a 20% decrease from a month ago, but a 108% increase from 60 days ago.
