And police need help finding the person who shot him.

“Right now, Dayton homicide detectives don’t really have any leads, so they are asking anyone within the public who might have any information to please contact the Dayton Police Department at 333-COPS,” he said.

Hastings said at this point, little is known about why Ferguson was shot. He said police believe Ferguson answered the door at around 1:20 a.m. Monday and was the victim of gunfire. He said other people were in the home, but no one got a good look at the shooter.

“There were so many shots that were fired, there is no way that amount of gunfire could take place without someone hearing it,” Hastings said. “What we are really asking is that anybody that would know anything about maybe a beef that he had with someone or just a misunderstanding that might have led to the incident to come forward. Even if it’s the smallest thing, if they know someone that might have information or might have had a reason to hurt Mr. Ferguson.”

Anyone who contacts Crime Stoppers can remain anonymous.
