AmeriStop Food Mart in Fairborn reports armed robbery

UPDATE @ 9:10 p.m.

A man bundled up and wearing a winter mask passed a note tonight asking for cash after he grabbed a bottle of wine and handful of candy, according to store clerks at a Fairborn AmeriStop Food Mart.

The suspect said he had a gun, but did not show it, the clerks at the store, 504 S. Maple Ave., said.

The robbery was reported around 7:05 p.m. The clerks said they gave the robber cash and that’s the last they saw of him.

FIRST REPORT

Police were called to a report of an armed robbery at AmeriStop Food Mart.

The robbery was reported around 7:05 p.m. at the store, 504 S. Maple Ave.

According to initial reports, the suspect is a white male, possibly a juvenile, who has a thin build and stands about 5 feet 8 inches. He was wearing a navy blue puff down coat and hood and had the lower portion of his face covered.

The suspect did not show a weapon, but kept his hand inside his coat pocket, according to reports. He was believed to have fled in a vehicle.

Police are searching the area for the suspect, but no arrests have been announced.
