Armed man robs Papa John’s Pizza in Piqua

Piqua police are investigating after a man held up the Papa John’s Pizza late Saturday night.

Officers were dispatched to the restaurant at 500 North Main Street around 11:40 p.m. after employees reported an armed robbery.

Piqua Police Lt. Jason Preston said a man came in through a backdoor, displayed a gun, and demanded cash. The suspect was described as a white man, around six foot tall, stocky built, possibly with a scar on his face, and was wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt and jeans.

The robber was able to get away with an undetermined amount of cash, but witnesses were unsure if he fled on foot or in a vehicle.

Preston said employees also reported several vehicles in the parking lot had flat tires after the robbery, and the robber is also suspected in those crimes.

Several employees were inside the store during the robbery, but no injuries were reported.
