UPDATE @ 10:30 p.m. 9/17/2015: A male and female were wounded in the shooting in the parking lot of the Xenia Country Inn, Xenia police Sgt. Alonzo Wilson said, and police are continuing their investigation into what led to the gunfire.
Both victims, believed to be in their late 20s or early 30s, have been taken to Greene Memorial Hospital. Their conditions are not known, Wilson said, but their injuries are not believed to be life threatening.
Wilson said police were dispatched to the inn, on South Allison Avenue, on a report of a disturbance. Police are trying to determine what precipitated the call and why the victims were at the inn. They are not believed to be Xenia residents, the sergeant said.
“It appears that everybody involved knows each other,” Wilson said, noting there were several people out, milling about, when police arrived. He said investigators believe “a hand full” of people were involved in the shooting.
Police have several witnesses, he said, but he doesn’t believe a weapon has been recovered.
