4-year-old dies after he’s ejected in SUV crash
URBANA TWP., Champaign County — A 4-year-old boy was killed Tuesday, June 22, in a single-vehicle accident in which he was ejected and left trapped under the wreckage.
Damon Miller’s mother, Jessica Trustle, was driving a Ford Explorer that rolled several times on north U.S. 68 about 9:30 a.m.
Damon, of Troy, was taken to a hospital. Trustle was not injured, Ohio Highway Patrol Sgt. Terry Bush said.
Trustle appeared to lose control of the SUV, which ended up on its side in the median, said Dave Beckett of Huber Heights, an eyewitness.
She jumped out and yelled for help, said Paul Baker of Springfield. He flagged down Beckett, who called 911. They tilted the SUV off the ground, and she pulled her son out.

Pregnant woman claims doc OK’d her pot smoking
MONROE — A pregnant Middletown woman arrested Sunday, June 20, for driving under the influence with her 3-year-old daughter in the car told police her gynecologist said it was OK to drink and smoke marijuana.
Audrey Frye, 25, was stopped by Monroe police about 10:10 p.m. on Gateway Boulevard. Frye told police she smoked a couple of “bowls” of marijuana.
Asked why she was smoking pot and drinking alcohol, police said Frye told them “her gynecologist told her that it was healthy for a woman to consume a glass of wine a day when she was pregnant, and it is not harmful to the baby if she smokes no more than six cigarettes a day and smokes just a small amount of weed.”
She was charged with OVI, misdemeanor child endangering and possession of an open container (a bottle vodka was found in the vehicle).
