Candy machine taken in auto parts store break-in

One or more thieves stole a candy machine after breaking into the O’Reilly Auto Parts, 4347 W. Third St.

Officers responded to the alarm shortly before midnight and found the front glass door shattered and a 1000 Watt generator sitting outside the entrance, according to the Dayton police report.

The store’s safe showed damage from attempts to open it, and the store manager reported the store’s candy machine was missing, according to the report.

This is at least the second recent incident in which a vending machine was stolen from an O’Reilly’s store.

Trotwood police recovered two candy vending machines that were found last week discarded in some bushes along a Dayton incident. Police said the machines had been taken June 16 from the O'Reilly's store on Salem Avenue.
