UPDATE @ 2:35 p.m.

Clayton police said they’re searching for three vehicles seen at this morning’s shooting outside Cognacs Lounge and Grill.

“There was a Grand Am that was in the parking lot, as well as a Malibu or Impala,” said Detective Paul Nabel. “We’re looking into video and trying to research exactly which car did what.”

A third car, Nabel said, fled from the scene and was chased by officers. No make or model information was available at this time.

A female who was potentially hit by a car was sedated at the hospital, Nabel said. Officers are still waiting to interview the woman, whose injuries were described as minor.

“When she was taken to the hospital she was very animated,” Nabel said. “We’re looking to talk with her to get some additional facts.”

Police are still investigating whether a person denied entry to the private event at the club is responsible for the shooting. About ten security guards and police were already on the premises when shots rang out, Nabel said.

Those security guards are cooperating with the investigation, the detective said.

“They definitely have some information that will help with the investigation,” Nabel said. “We’re just corroborating it with additional evidence and the surveillance video.”

Persons with information about the shooting are asked to call police.

UPDATE @ 5:10 a.m.

Clayton police said one person was shot and another was hit by a car outside a Clayton bar early Monday morning.

Officers responded to Cognacs Lounge and Grill at 6504 North Union Road around 2:50 a.m. on reports of shots fired in the area.

Not long after officers arrived on scene, a “signal 99” for county-wide officer assistance was requested, along with multiple medics.

Clayton Police Chief Matt Hamlin said one person was shot multiple times during the incident, and a woman was injured when she was either hit by a car or ran into it.

The shooting victim, whose condition was not released, was transported to Miami Valley Hospital, while the woman was sent to Good Samaritan Hospital for treatment.

Hamlin said the incident started when the bar closed for the night after hosting an event. Police said one man tried to get in, but was denied entry, fueling an argument.

The shooter fled in a vehicle that police pursued for a short time, but lost sight of the suspect vehicle near Good Samaritan Hospital.

Investigators believe the shooter was the man who was denied entry into the bar, and believe surveillance footage captured the incident.

Police said they might know the identity of the shooter, but a suspect description was not released.
