39-year-old identified as man killed in pedestrian crash in Dayton

A 39-year-old man was identified as the victim of a deadly pedestrian crash at Free Pike and North Gettysburg Avenue in Dayton Thursday night.

Joseph Garrett, of Trotwood, was pronounced dead on Thursday, according to Montgomery County Coroner Dr. Kent Harshbarger.

A cause and manner of death have not been determined at this time.

The case is under investigation by the Dayton Police Department.

The incident was reported just after 11 p.m. when a man was seen lying on the ground near the McDonald’s, according to dispatch records.

A caller said that the victim may have been hit by a second vehicle, and was not moving.

This crash was originally reported in Harrison Township, but was found after emergency crews were on scene to be in Dayton.
