Police seek three suspects in Butler Twp. Walmart shooting, pursuit

Butler Twp. police are looking for two men and a woman wanted in an early morning shooting at Walmart and subsequent pursuit.

Around 1:30 a.m. Wednesday, police and medics responded to a man shot outside Walmart on York Commons Boulevard in Butler Twp.

A 19-year-old Dayton man suffered a gunshot wound to the leg. He was taken to Miami Valley Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, according to police.

A black Dodge Durango with tinted windows was seen leaving the scene heading toward Sam’s Club, according to dispatch records. At 2:02 a.m., Dayton police attempted a traffic stop near Stanley Avenue on the suspect vehicle.

The vehicle failed to pull over, and a pursuit ensued.

Authorities pursued the vehicle through multiple streets before the car crashed around 2:05 a.m. on Findlay Street near Huffman Avenue, according to reports.

Dayton police requested two K9 units to search for the suspects who fled the wrecked vehicle on foot. The search lasted over an hour and was unsuccessful, authorities said.

Butler Twp. police said the shooting was believed to be a result of a robbery, and that illegal narcotics and a large amount of cash were found at the scene.
