U.S. customs agents in Cincinnati seize 2,000 phony 3M masks from China

U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers in Cincinnati uncovered 2,000 counterfeit 3M masks.

The package was headed to a residence in Austin, Texas, according to a release from the agency.

The fake masks in the April 3 shipment were seized for an intellectual property rights violation. Had they been real, the value would have been $7,000.

"Cincinnati CBP screens freight from all over the world," Richard Gillespie, Cincinnati Port director stated in the release. "Our officers are highly trained and work around the clock to protect the people of the United States."
CBP, an agency of the Department of Homeland Security, regularly screens arriving international passengers and cargo for narcotics, weapons and other restricted or prohibited products.
