Carlos Raymond Alvarez, also known as Rico Finessegod, pleaded guilty to conspiracy to commit carjacking and using a firearm during a crime of violence.
A judge scheduled Alvarez’s sentencing hearing for July 24.
Alvarez is facing up to five years for the conspiracy charge and between 10 years and life for the gun charge, according to the DOJ.
He was indicted along with A. Philip Thomas Christian Daugherty, 23, of Dayton; Zy’Lique Anaise Murphy, 19, of Columbus; and Zhaire Simone Chardae Evans, 19, of Columbus in November.
As part of the scheme, Evans would post on online dating websites to get men to meet her for a date, according to the DOJ.
On July 6, during one of the dates, Alvarez and Daugherty reportedly showed up and pretended to be former boyfriends of Evans and Murphy.
Alvarez and Daugherty beat the man, stole his keys and car and drove to Columbus, according to the DOJ.
Alvarez reportedly shot a gun near the victim to intimidate him.
Charges against Evans, Murphy and Daugherty are pending.
