Dayton man sentenced to 42 years in '16 shooting death

A Dayton man Waymon Jones, Jr., 26, was sentenced Thursday to 42 years in prison for a fatal shooting.

Joshua Cohen was shot to death on July 2016 on Leland Avenue.

Jones’ total sentence is 42 years and two months to life in prison, according to the prosecutor’s office.

The shooting happened during an argument.

Jones also shot at two other individuals that were not hit.

Last month Jones was found guilty of two counts murder, two counts weapons under disability and single counts of felonious assault and discharge of a firearm on or near prohibited premises.

Jones was already on probation at the time of the killing for a trafficking in marijuana offense. He also has three prior prison sentences.
