The resolution from Portman and Brown also expresses support for all those affected by Aug. 4 shooting and gratitude to the first responders, according to a release.
“The senseless and evil actions of one individual claimed the lives of nine innocent people in Dayton earlier this year,” Portman said. “We must stand together to condemn these cowardly acts. I’m grateful for the courageous and fast response from our law enforcement and first responders. Thanks to their quick action, countless lives were saved. We must never forget those who were lost in this tragic attack, and I’m proud of the way Dayton has come together as a community in support of one another.”

“There is no reason one man should have been able to kill nine people in Dayton and injure dozens more in less than a minute – and if it weren’t for the brave first responders from the Dayton Police Department, far more lives could have been lost,” Brown said. “We must honor the lives of those who were slain and continue to offer support to their loved ones and the Dayton community as we work to end senseless gun violence.”
