Dayton men charged in string of armed robberies at convenience stores

Two Dayton men are facing charges in a string of armed robberies at convenience stores in the Miami Valley.

Kavonte Knolton, 21, and Jamaal Murphy, 19, are accused of robbing the Dorothy Lane Circle K on Feb. 22 and the Wyoming Mini-Mart on March 5, according to the United States Attorney's Office Southern District of Ohio.

Murphy is also accused of robbing the Wyoming Mini-Mart in December and Knolton of robbing the UDF on Woodman Avenue on Jan. 25 and Feb. 14.

They were indicted on once count of conspiracy, five counts of using, carrying or brandishing a firearm during a violent crime and five counts of violating the Hobbs Act, a federal law protecting businesses involved in interstate commerce.

Both were arrested Monday by Dayton police and agents from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives.
