Police make arrest in deadly hit-and-run crash in Dayton that kills Fairborn woman

Police arrested a 39-year-old Dayton man who is the suspected driver in a deadly hit-and-run crash over the weekend that killed a Fairborn woman.

Dayton police announced the arrest Thursday afternoon in the four-car crash, but did not release the suspect’s name.

Montgomery County Jail online records show that Jason Aaron Cartwright was booked Thursday on suspicion of aggravated vehicular homicide and leaving the scene of an accident, both felony charges. He is scheduled to be arraigned Friday.

Tasha Watkins, 35, died at Miami Valley Hospital following the four-vehicle crash that happened around 6:40 p.m. Sunday along North Gettysburg Avenue.

Dayton police released the new information Tuesday on social media and asked for the public’s help to identify the driver, who abandoned the wrecked car at nearby Clark Gas, 1655 N. Gettysburg Ave., and then got a ride in a silver car.
