Preliminary reports indicate that Olidiges may have committed suicide, the Sheriff's office confirmed, but officials declined to go into details because they are investigating the death. Gunshot residue and a bullet from a 9mm pistol was found at the scene
Oldiges' relatives, employees and neighbors declined to comment Wednesday.
The home where his body was found, located in the 300 block of Narrows Trace, appeared to be vacant Wednesday morning. Gregory Oldiges is listed as the property owner, according to Greene County Auditor records.
Oldiges, the owner of Williams Brothers Roofing and Siding Co., pleaded guilty in a plea bargain to a case in which he was accused of a years-long conspiracy of recruiting, transporting and using illegal immigrant workers from Mexico, among other charges, according to U.S. District Court documents.
Prosecutors called Oldiges' crime a greedy scheme that goes way beyond just hiring undocumented workers. They alleged that between 2009 and 2012, Williams Brothers charged its customers about $11.75 million for roofing-related work performed by its illegal immigrant subcontractors, for which Williams Brothers paid the illegal immigrants about $1.7 million, according to court documents.
He was facing up to five years in prison, and would have had to forfeit more than $2 million in cash, a $500,000 house and his pickup.
