Maurice Ambrose died from multiple gunshot wounds according to the Montgomery County Coroner’s Office.
Dayton homicide detectives are continuing to look for witnesses and go through evidence.
“Our preliminary investigation reveals it is entirely possible that the deceased and his assailant knew each other to some degree,” said Dayton police Sgt. An autopsy was performed on Maurice Ambrose Saturday, according to the Montgomery County Coroner’s Office.
Further information regarding his death could not be released because the incident is an ongoing investigation, according to the coroner’s office.
INITIAL REPORT:
A man is dead after a reported shooting in Dayton but it’s unclear how he died.
A woman called 911 reporting she and her brother had been shot in the 100 block of Laura Avenue on Saturday, according to a 911 call obtained by our newsroom.
Emergency crews were dispatched to the reported shooting just after 1 a.m.
According to the 911 call, a woman said a man, whom she identified as her brother, was shot. The woman also reported she was shot in the leg.
The Montgomery County Coroner’s Office identified Maurice Ambrose, 43, of Dayton as the individual who died at the location of the reported shooting. An autopsy will be performed today, according the coroner’s office.
