Kettering police responded around 4:45 p.m. April 26 to the 3600 block of Elmira Drive after a caller said two men broke into his home and assaulted him, according to a court affidavit.
“The caller stated that he had stabbed each of the black males and one remained on scene,” the statement of facts read. “The second fled in a vehicle.”
The Melvin Sr. was at the home when police arrived. He and the 911 caller were taken to a local hospital for treatment, and Melvin Jr. later was taken into custody.
During an interview with police, Melvin Jr. reportedly said the caller let him and his father into his home and that his father got into a fight with the caller when his father tried to search the home for his cellphone.“[The caller] then began stabbing Melvin Sr., at which time Melvin Jr. threw glass bottles at [the caller] and struck him in the head with a dartboard,” read court documents.

Police reported they recovered clothing, blood, glass bottles and a dartboard from the home.
