Father of Takoda Collins found competent to stand trial

A Dayton man accused of “extreme abuse” of his 10-year-old son was declared competent to stand trial.

Al-Mutahan McLean, 30, is facing endangering children, felonious assault and rape charges involving his son, Takoda Collins.

Wednesday’s hearing will allow court proceedings against McLean to continue forward.

His defense team also filed a motion to suppress evidence Wednesday.

Collins was pronounced dead at Dayton Children’s Hospital on Dec. 13. Complete autopsy results from the Montgomery County Coroner’s Office are pending.

McLean is accused of abusing Collins over for years.

Police say Collins was kept naked in attic for an extended period of time.
