UPDATE @ 9:35 p.m. 10/3: A 35-year-old man and his 15-year-old son are in custody on numerous felony charges related to the shot-fired incident that led to the lockdown of a school.
Joshua Gambill of Piqua is in the Miami County Jail on the following charges:

- Complicity to commit felonious assault;
- Carrying concealed weapons;
- Improper handling of a firearm in a motor vehicle and
- Child endangering (2 counts).
His son, of Covington, is in the West Central Juvenile Detention Facility near Troy on the following charges:
- Delinquency by reason of felonious assault
- Delinquency by reason of discharging a firearm on or near a public place
- Delinquency by reason of improper handling of a firearm.
FIRST REPORT
A family dispute this afternoon led to a shot fired, school lockdown and the apprehension of a man and his 15-year-old son.
A motorcyclist and passenger were challenged by people following them in a van and a pickup truck, Piqua Police Chief Bruce Jamison said.
The motorcyclist and passenger went back to their Park Avenue residence — about 100 yards from Piqua Central Intermediate School — where a shot was fired from the van, the chief said. Someone in the pickup possibly was armed as well, but no one was hit, he said.
The van and pickup left before police arrived.
Police and school officials locked down the school as a precaution, Jamison said, because they didn’t want to let children out in an area that could be at-risk during the rapidly changing situation. No students were ever in any danger, the chief said said.

Piqua officers provided descriptions of the vehicles, and detectives found the van. Just before 3 p.m. Piqua police, the Miami County sheriff’s deputies, troopers with the Ohio Highway Patrol and Covington police apprehended the occupants.
Police anticipate filing charges this evening and are working to recover the weapons involved, the chief said.
