Joseph Bernhard-William Kiser, of Granville, was fatally shot Oct. 21, 2019, following a nine-minute police chase from U.S. 35 into Trotwood.
Kiser stopped his car on Ohio 49, got out and then approached the trooper while pointing a .357 revolver at him, according to OSHP.

He had been recently released from the Tri-County Regional Jail near Mechanicsburg for a traffic violation case out of Madison County Municipal Court, said Scott Springhetti, the jail’s executive director.
The pursuit started around 1:15 a.m. after Kiser was allegedly speeding while on U.S. 35. The chase ended when Kiser stopped in the middle of read on Ohio 49 near Olive Road.

The trooper fired three shots, all of which struck Kiser, according to patrol.
The trooper was not injured during the incident.
