Highway Patrol uses phone signals to follow car in possible abduction investigation

An investigation into a report of a possible abduction led Ohio State Highway Patrol troopers began with a search in Enon and ended after troopers tracked a phone signal to the area of state Route 123 and Interstate 75.

At around 10 p.m. last night, we heard reports that state troopers were searching for a vehicle in the area of Enon Road in Clark County as part of an investigation into a reported possible abduction. Scanner traffic mentioned the vehicle again around midnight in Vandalia.

Troopers then tracked a phone signal, according to Highway Patrol dispatchers, following the track down I-75 and eventually catching up to the vehicle around state Route 123.

Scanner traffic indicated that when the vehicle was stopped, one of the passengers jumped out and fled.

Highway Patrol dispatchers said that the vehicle they stopped was being released, but whether any charges were being filed is unclear.
